How New Horizon started?

I keep meeting a lot of people lately, who keep asking me the same question. How did New Horizon start?

I’d like to say the answer is super simple, and that it started 2 years ago, when we first held our very first escape on Koh Tao, Thailand. But this isn’t the correct answer and that’s the point where I start getting really deep into how it actually started.

You see New Horizon wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all the fitness qualifications I have, for all the days I sweated out in the gym and committed to living a healthy lifestyle, for the commitments I made to certain sports like kickboxing/yoga, for the times I was eager to learn new things (like Instagram for example). My journey goes back to 17 years ago, when I was 15 and I stepped foot in the gym for the very first time. I was making myself into the person I became today.

A business is a series of decisions you’ve been making previously, it’s the people you’ve networked with in the past, it’s the people you’re hanging out in the present, it’s your hobbies, your aspirations, your habbits. It’s isn’t just as simple as starting a business. A business is an event that takes place over a long period of time and it comes to you when you’re ready, if you ever are.

When we came up with the idea of New Horizon, we lived on Koh Tao and we weren’t ready. We were toying with the idea, but we didn’t really think it was possible, so we just kind of left it there. One year later was the perfect moment, when we returned back to the UK from 7 months in Australia, we felt trapped and wanted to escape again. This forced us to be creative and think outside the box. The business was live in 2 months.

So, New Horizon started when my fitness journey started, when I decided to go for that kickboxing class for the first time (and years later became a black belt), when I did my first yoga pose because mum was doing it (then years later did my training course in India), when I first opened my Instagram account (then launched 2 businesses on it), when I did loads of research online, when I met Adam and our dreams aligned, when I started ravelling the world and opened my mind to the endless possibilities, when I started stepping outside my comfort zone, when I had no expectations and took things as they came. It wasn’t one smooth and straight line, just like a river, it went up, down, left, right…
